I just finished reading Tattered by Devney Perry, and I need to talk to you about it – immediately. This book was like that cozy sweater you forgot you had but can’t take off once you find it again. It's warm, familiar, and gives you all the feels.
So, imagine this: Thea Landry isn’t your typical romance heroine. She’s tough, independent, and raising her daughter Charlie with the grace of a one-woman show. Life hasn’t exactly been kind to her, but she’s doing just fine on her own. Enter Logan Kendrick – tall, rich, and the very definition of “I thought I had my life together until THIS happened.”
Logan and Thea had a one-night stand years ago, and neither thought they’d cross paths again. But surprise! Logan shows up in town, only to find out he’s got a five-year-old daughter he never knew about. Talk about an awkward reunion.
Now, here’s the thing – Thea doesn’t do drama. She’s practical and grounded, but even she can’t deny that Logan deserves to know his daughter. What I loved most about this book is how real the emotions feel. Thea’s biggest fear isn’t letting Logan into her life; it’s trusting him not to disappear once the novelty of playing dad wears off. And Logan? Watching him fumble his way through fatherhood is both heartwarming and hilarious.
But the magic of Tattered lies in the quiet, ordinary love that blossoms between Thea and Logan. There’s nothing flashy about their relationship – no grand declarations or over-the-top drama. It’s built slowly, through shared moments, meaningful conversations, and those subtle, lingering glances that say more than words ever could. Thea and Logan’s connection feels like the kind of love that grows from trust and familiarity – the type of love that feels sturdy enough to weather the storms of life.
Charlie – their daughter – absolutely steals the show. She’s sweet, inquisitive, and the glue that holds this whole story together. There’s no forced drama, just the natural awkwardness of two people co-parenting when they’re still figuring out what they mean to each other.
Devney Perry’s writing is just chef’s kiss. It’s emotional without being sappy, romantic without being cheesy, and the small-town setting adds this cozy, intimate vibe that pulls you right in. I have become a huge fan of Devney Perry over the last year, she was my most read author in 2024. At the end of the book, you’ll feel like you’ve walked every step with Thea and Logan – through the heartbreak, the joy, and all the little moments that make falling in love worth it.
If you’re craving a romance that hits you in the feels, gives you a few good laughs, and leaves you with a happy heart, Tattered is your next read. Trust me, you won’t want to put it down!
